UNC Charlotte is the third largest university in North Carolina. It is renowned for its business partnerships that aid students in finding employment right after college. UNC Charlotte expects a lot out of their pupils, and in return you will receive a high-quality education. However, throughout the hustle and bustle of daily life at this university, there are also many opportunities to relax with friends and have fun. One of the best ways to do this is to check out some of the many budget-friendly restaurants around the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. These affordable restaurants allow you to hang with friends and get your mind off your studies.

Fried Chicken and Fish: La Wan’s Soul Food

Living in North Carolina gives you access to some of the best down-home cookin’ around. However, that does not mean you have to break the bank to experience it. La Wan’s offers Southern-fried fish and chicken that is mouth-wateringly good and extremely affordable. If neither of these sound appetizing, then try their home-style plates, like the beef tips and gravy topped with onions and pepper. As the name of the eatery describes, this restaurant is good for the soul.

Pub Food: Growler’s Pourhouse

Come to Growler’s Pourhouse for their tasty hot dogs and sausages that are made from scratch in-house. This is also an outstanding place to grab a few craft beers and some gastropub fare with friends. As a vegan, you can still enjoy Growler’s sausages with their chipotle vegan sausage. However, if you are a meat-lover, then the streaming bratwurst with juniper sauerkraut is one of their best options. All the sausages are served without a bun.

Parisian Bakery: Amelie’s French Bakery

Step into Amelie’s French Bakery and you’ll feel like you traveled to the heart of Paris. This quaint bakery is famous for its delectable mousse cups, éclairs, and fruit tarts that all melt-in-your-mouth. This is an excellent location to go to for breakfast. Try their multilayered peanut butter tart for a real treat if you are craving something sweet.

Best Burgers in Town: Brooks’ Sandwich House & Chili

This local student favorite is known for delicious chili and burgers. Brook’s Sandwich House & Chili is ideal for late night take-outs when you are on the go. Although the inside of the eatery is a bit rundown, it does not take away from the scrumptious handcrafted burgers and chili.

Thai Cuisine: Thai Taste

This is one of Charlotte’s first Thai restaurants, and it delivers in bringing the taste of Thailand to North Carolina. The outside of Thai Taste is styled to resemble a Thai outdoor market, and the inside has a chic and relaxed vibe. The menu at Thai Taste changes on a daily basis, so frequenting this venue will give you something new each time. However, all of the traditional Thai fare, like pad thai and chicken skewers with peanut sauce, is always on the menu.
